A few questions......

Hey everyone! I'm a pretty new snake owner, and well, I have a few questions about my baby! I got him almost a month ago, and he was 14.5 inches long. Now he's around 16 inches, but he's yet to shed. He's just s baby, very young.....but not underweight. I'm currently feeding him 2 small pinks a week......and he's not reluctant to eat at all. He knows when I'm feeding him because I use the same plastic container everytime(washed out of course) and as soon as he's in it he eats the pink without complaint.....I don't even have to put the lid on, I just put him in the dish and he grabs it while he's still partly in my hand......I'm reluctant to feed him more than 2 pinks though, I'm sure he'd have no problem with that though :grin01:

ALSO,how often do baby snakes shed? I've had him almost a month and he hasn't shed once..... :shrugs: Not to sure what that means.......

Any advice is greatly appreciated!! :)

Hatchlings and younger corns will shed an average of once a month. I say average because every snake differs. Some will shed every three weeks and some may go closer to six weeks. He may shed in 3 weeks one time and not for 5 or 6 the next time. What I'm saying is that it's variable.
If he's healthy, eating, and growing the shedding will come with time.

As far as the feeding goes, if there isn't a noticeable lump after he eats you can bump him up to the next size (med/large pinks). Or you can try two small pinks at one feeding for a couple of times before moving to the next size up.

WELL, he's actually looking rather blue at the moment...... And his eyes which are usually red and shiny are.....not red and shiny, they're rather not shiny.....and have a blue tint. And his scales look pale....I'm guessing he's just getting ready to shed :crazy02:

As for feeding, when I feed him it doesn't make a lump at all really....so maybe I will bump up to two per feeding....? He really seems to enjoy eatting a lot....I'm sure if I gave him 10 he'd eat em all :grin01: BUT, I won't lol
