Ok so I received my corn on the 21st(Wed). Its now 5 days after I've had him and I was going to feed him a pinky. I put him in a smaller sterilite tub to feed because he is pretty squirmy and striking alot. I dangled the pinky a bit but he is only striking at it, not eating it. As I'm typing this I covered the sterilite tub with a towel for a little, thinking maybe hes to scared to eat out in the open. If this doesnt work I'll ditch the pinky. Do you think this might have been to early to offer food? I received him on the 21st so that means he was shipped on the 20th. I'm assuming they wouldnt ship him if he was still digesting a meal so that should mean he's had atleast 6 or 7 days without food and atleast 5 days with me. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Maybe a little too soon but as you already have feeding underway, I'd leave him in the feeding tub with the pinky overnight (as long as the tub is escape-proof, has ventilation and you can give a bit of a heat gradient - try putting it back in his normal tank if it'll fit).

Some don't like being watched and others prefer eating in the dark, especially if they haven't yet settled into their new home. It's rare that you have to dangle a pinky to get them to eat - just leaving them in the tub with the snake is normally enough to get a reliable feeder in the mood for dinner.

It worked, minutes after I made the post I lifted the towel a bit and saw him swallowing the pinky. When he finished I carefully placed the sterilite tub inside of his larger tub and he slithered back in. My temps are good so hopefully he'll digest everything ok. I guess I was a bit worried because he was only striking at the pinky and not try to eat him. As soon as I left him alone he finished it within minutes. I hope after about a day or two when I attempt to handle him he'll be a bit more calm, he was striking at everything lol

Congratulations on your first successful feeding! :)

I'd suggest leaving him alone for 48 - 72 hours after feeding, to give him time to digest in peace, then you can try a short handling session. Don't be offended if he is still a little snappy, he's had a pretty busy week and needs time to get used to his new home and surroundings, just be gentle and patient and he will calm for you :)
