A little nervous I think

Well my female (Pastel Ghost Motley) shed in the last day or two so I put her with my male (opal). The male has yet to shed and appears to be "in the blue". He has done the "jerking" and chin rubbing and when their tales met the female looked ready but the male moved his tail away quickly. Maybe he is just nervous, lol, I mean it is his first time (hers as well). Don't worry they are well above proper breeding size. They are over 4 yrs old and well over 525 grams. Wish me luck!

Good luck! I usually introduce my male to the female in a seperate plastic container and then seperate them following a breeding. If one does not appear interested then I wait a few days to a week and put them together again.

Some males are a little reluctant to breed when they are in blue. I have several of those. As soon as he sheds, he'll be back at the female!

Thanks!

MegF- About a month after coming out of brumation I tried putting them together in a sterilite tub (neither had shed yet) and that was very difficult, no interest at all (which I expected) and both tried to get out of the tub before I could get the lid on. Put the female back in her tub and by that time the male had decided he was going to twist and twirl around all the cords at the back of my computer (fun fun fun). So now I have a 29 gallon aquarium setup for their breeding, much easier to take them from their tub and put into the 29 gallon with locking lid and then getting the other. Thanks!!

Susan- I expected him to shy away while in the blue. I didn't noticed he was in the blue until I was putting them back so I will try again in a few days or so. Thanks!!

I had that happen when I first put them together. They weren't interested yet. When I put them in there the following week though, it was LOVEeeeee. The male bred in blue. Evidently he's a touch more horny than Susan's! :)
