Depends on the snake, if it's a high humidity snakes, you'll need to keep a close watch on the humidity, if it's a corn, it should be fine for a few days just keep an eye on the temp and make sure it doesn't get to hot. And make sure the snake can't get near the bulb.
that will be better than nothing, I think. Just make really sure, the snake can't touch the lamp and burn itself. If you got a glass viv, you can place the lamp outside. If you got a wood viv, maybe you can put it outside the glassfront (for that sort time, who cares how it's looking). If you have to put it inside you need some kind of protection grill. Don't underestimate the snakes ability to squeeze trough the tiniest space. Or at least watch it very carefully.
