A testament to a Corns strength

Erika N.

Waiting in anticipation!
So I wake up this morning to find that Ra has completely decided to redo his cage and push everything over to one side. Now this may not be impressive since there are very few items in there (He is still in quarantine along with all my other Corns). He only has a water bowl and three hides along with newspaper substrate.

Here is the kicker though, one of his hides is a small flower pot that weights 197 grams. Ra weights only 12-13 grams yet (!) he was somehow able to move this flower pot 6 inches from its original location. I don't really know how it was possible since the pot weighs about 15.2 times more then he does. To put this more in perspective that would be like me being able to push/pull 2000 pounds of weight. In the end I guess all I can do is chalk it up to a Corn Snakes amazing strength.

Amazing creatures, aren't they? I do think they do it accidentally whilst trying to get out of their viv. They try to push with their noses against for example a corner of their viv, they press their lower halfs against objects close to them to be able to stay put and those objects move. Still the weight a tiny snake can move around....

Yeah, definitely but I was pretty shocked to wake up to see that. Granted they have all been super active these last couple of nights (all but the BP) but to see EVERYTHING in his viv moved to one side was just short of amazing.

This isn't about strength, but...Sienna regularly redecorates her cage. She has these (light) plastic bowls that I cut an opening in for her to have a hide. They are always shuffled around. My favorite is when she occasionally upends one into her water bowl. :)
