My 3 year old corn( that iv had for 2 months) was acting weird tonight. He kept opening and closing his anal flap(i believe that's what its called) as if he was going to poop. He does poop on me often if i hold him and he has it. Hes pooped 2 times and should have nothing left. My fiancee suggested that he possibly does it when ever i hold him like a defense mechanism but i just havn't noticed. Any ideas?

The term you're looking for is 'vent'.
Corns can musk you as a defence if they are upset. You're more likely to get this than bit from an adult. If he opened his vent and didn't poop but rather just rubbed the exposed flesh on the ground (or you) it may be a sign of an infection or parasites. This causes irritation and rubbing an open vent is like scratching an itch. If you see him rubbing his open vent it may be worth it to swap some polysporin and if it continues and becomes a regular happening you'll want to do a trip to the vet and get a stool sample taken to check for parasites or high white blood cells indicating a bacteria infection.

If he is trying to musk but has nothing left in his bowels because he's pooped it out already, that may explain it as well.

I've heard of corns musking but none of mine to it. But my kingsnake does it to me sometimes and does it to my boyfriend all the time (he also likes to bite my boyfriend). So he may just be trying to musk you.

Your fiancee guessed it, they musk when are upset or unhappy at being handled. Unless there is a problem as antsterr described, you don't have to worry too much. I suppose it is a defence mechanism in that he hopes to get released if he musks you.

My 11 year old, having never musked before, went through a phase of it a few years back. I handle him less often now, but when I do, he doesn't musk any more. Seems it was just a phase.
