Active Kingsnake?

Hello Everyone!

Was just wondering if there were any kingsnake owners out there who'd like to chime in. I've had Pandora for 2 years now, she's a striped albino Kingsnake. And let me say she's just the most active snake I own. I own a Creamsicle Corn Snake, a Nicaraguan boa, & a Colombian Snow Boa. They are all the most docile don't want to move around snakes. Lol well unless they're hungry or have to poop.

But day and night Pandora is back and forth, tearing up her cage for fun. Warm side is between 85-89 UTH w/ a digital probe and cool side is 75-80 with getting a little cooler at night in the lower 70's. I know it's not an environment issue, more of a behavioral characteristic. Just was curious if anyone else had some very active little ones, kingsnake or non-kingsnake. Thanks for reading and would enjoy reading your input!!!

I know my little king gets frisky sometimes and tears up her tub, usually when she's hungry. She seems much more active overall compared to even my corns.

Although, your temps could be a little too warm for her as well. Cool side can be 70-75, warm side 84-88 or so. It may be there's not much of a thermal gradient that she can properly cool down. If the cool side is 80, and the warm side is 84-85... may be too warm overall.

Yeah any time the cooler side gets warmer, I drop the temp on the UTH. That's just a rough estimate due to the weather changes in the house. Winter time the house gets a little warmer due to the heat and summer it can get a little cooler due to the air. So I'm always trying to adjust it as much as possible, I never drop her temps when it's feeding time though.

HI,
I have kings including a juvi pair of striped albino kings. Most of my kings are very active. my 1000g brooks is always on the go. Very hyper snakes for the most part. I do have a juvi pair of mosaics that are very docile though.
For the most part kings are a much more active snake than a corn.
Definitely aggressive eaters.
Even at lower temps mine stay active. I had the Brooks in brumation and he was still continually on the go! He only dropped 6g though surprisingly.

Your striped albino is beautiful. I think they are underrated and underpriced.
They have such vibrant colors!!
:)

Thank you so much! She does sleep or rest from time to time but definitely on the go most of the time. I thought it was something she would grow out of but I guess not! Haha yes she is a beauty, but a brat at that! I still love her though.

My King Ghidorah is twelve years young and still the most rambunctious and always ready to explore. Old age hasn't slowed him down, especially when hungry. So yeah I'd say get used to her being somewhat hyper in comparison to other snakes.

Very nice! Thanks for the response! Rambunctious is a perfect term for it. :)

yeah. I have a milk snake. and he's much more active than my corn, I always catch him out and about in the evenings, or afternoon. its a nice change from my corn, hell cone out but just to go and fall right back asleep on his dock, lol he's a lazy boy.

I guess we're talking about a California King?
The entire Lampropeltis Getula Complex are ever hungry... they react in a very alert manner because they ALWAYS hope it's food.

Florida Kings are even one scale higher on the insane food responsiveness scale.
