my six year old ghost corn has never been aggressive.. but i noticed since i brought a ball python into my house (seprete side of my room) She has been more greedy when eating .. she bite my boyfriend, and she had her self barricated in her cave just then and i tried to pick her up and she how she would act towards me (she was out crawling around) she went nuts around her tank and everything and wont let me pick her up... shes only been weird since we got the other snake .... she only bite for the first time on wednesday... she was NEVER like this before, but since we got the baby ball python my corn is completely changed...i dont understand why .. ? any ideas or anything anybody knos i could try to do about my corn ??

im new at this but this is a guess the snakes smells the other snake and is scared of predation do u wash your hands after touching the bp b4 u touch the corn

What I don't understand is that a ball python and a corn snake are from 2 different parts of the world, and ball pythons are not snake eaters.
I could see if you brought in a florida king....but this is just confusing!

But yeah, maybe another room might help.

That's what we don't understand either, like my corn was perfect until the ball python shed! My corn was never like this like activie isn't the word she goess madd now, she never bite me, and I mean she latched onto my boyfriends finger Wednesday and deep as hell too ! And well they r on oppisite sides of my room, I have nowhere else I could put her .....

My snakes do a good job ignoring each other, I find it odd that the bp addition would have such an effect. It is corn breeding season. The scent of a freshly shed snake may have put her in a randy mood.

I'm also totally confused by this... you COULD try cleaning out both tanks/bins that you keep them it very well and also soaking the snakes and cleaning them off with a VERY little amount of Dawn added to the water. That will get rid of any smells they both smell, and they'll smell like they just came out of the dishwasher.

I felt both of them alone for the night and last night I'm going home soon, and hopefully they r both good, my bp is perfect ! it onlu my corn, I'm hoping she's okay I still don't understand why she bit my boyfriend :S

Came home last night, found kerrigan being okay in her viv, had her out she was perfectly fine, but again this morning shes been going NUTS !

Do you have any way of double-checking the temps on the floor in the Corn's tank? Sometimes, elevated temps can cause them to get very agitated, over-active and nippy. Maybe your current thermometer or thermostat is misbehaving and the arrival of the BP is just coincidence.

the temps on the tank are perfectly fine, they been checked with two different thermometers... im thinking about turning off the heating pad for a night or two and see what happens... thats what my friend did with hers when her corn snake was like it ? .. would have help do u think , also her tank has been moved 5 ft away from where her tank is, but that was like a good while ago i moved her tank, and she wasn't like it then .. only started being like this the past month ish..

What are the actual temps on the floor of the tank? Do not under any circumstances switch the heat source off. If it is giving the correct temp, then it's necessary for proper digestion.

Switching the heat off will of course make any snake become sluggish - they're cold-blooded animals and will start to conserve energy. That doesn't mean the underlying problem has gone away, just that you've dealt with the symptoms temporarily.

the temps go between 80 and 85 degrees F .. I noticed shes borrowing under her bedding again too like she did when we first had her . but that shouldn't be problem for anything ??

The warm end needs to be mid-80s constantly and the cool end in the low-mid 70s. Unless you have a cool area in that range, then she can't thermoregulate and will be overheating.

I just checked and the cool side of her tank is at 75, thats where her other hide and water dish is too .. and the warmer side of her tank there now is at 84 there now, shes still borrowed down under her substrate !

Well that all certainly sounds fine - both temps and behaviour.

Next time "she" (and I'm also starting to wonder if you may have a "he"!) goes nuts, it might be worth double-checking the temps at that point, just to make sure the setup isn't experiencing heat spikes.

Six years old is a little late for a male to suddenly hit maturity and start exhibiting this sort of mating season behaviour, but it's perfectly possible.

yea i just posted a thread to see if anybody can help me tell myself if its male or female haha !..i live in newfoundland, and its hard to find people and if i do its too much money!
