air temps

I use an under tank heater and keep the warm side at about 82-88. Should i also worry about the air temp because the heat pad does nothing for the over all temp of the rest of the tank. If i get a ceramic heat lamp will that make my snake more active throughout the rest of the tank?

No you don't need to worry about the air temp. and no the snake will not be more active if you ues a heat lamp.
What the general house temp??

Ask yourself if the snake is in the air. No? Then why worry about the temps up there?

Unless you have a lot of climbing branches etc and the snake hangs out there all the time, just concentrate on the heat given off my the mat, which is designed to provide the ideal belly heat for Corns. Forget about the heat lamp - it would just be an unnecessary expense.

That'd for Corns only - I can't comment on BPs.

thats what i mean, I have a well decorated tank with places he could climb or even go ontop of his hide. I was thinking if those places where also heated up would he climb them more. the over all house temp is about 75 i believe

It depends on the individual Corn (or BP I guess). Some of mine love climbing and the occasional one doesn't mind spending time out in the open. However, I've tried some in a couple of fancy multi-level vivs with lots of climbing equipment and they never leave the ground level. Different Corns in the same vivs have scrambled about to their hearts' content.

Climbing more and being out-and-about, really does seem to be a matter of individual preference rather than anything to do with the temperature.
