Herpetologists' offspring
Over the past two years I've been building on my corn collection, and I recently noticed that about half of my future breeders are homozygous for anerythrism. So I decided why not post a little thread comparing them all?
First up is Carla! I've had her for almost two years now, and she was my first non-classic corn. I feel I got incredibly lucky with her, as she was just picked up from a random table at the Northwestern Berks show for $18. I'm sure I'm biased, but I think she's pretty stunning for an anery, since even now her saddles have retained most of their dark black appearance and her contrast is amazing.
Next is Haku, a Christmas present from my mother. Although I don't really have any plans for her yet (as I'd like to take advantage of her near perfect zig zag pattern), I still find her to be a great addition.
And as for my ghost, Orion...well, he's new. As of a week ago. The circumstances are quite unfortunate. I don't know if anyone remembers, but I used to have a ghost stripe named Diego. He was doing great. One morning I found him with his head caught in the top of his enclosure. I opened it immediately, but he had already suffocated. I was, and still am, devastated. But he was supposed to be part of a breeding project for which I now had no male. So, I found Orion. Ghost het stripe, poss caramel/amel.
When I got Orion, I couldn't resist a few others. Along with a female opal to go with my lavender, I picked up this stunner to go with Fuji. She's an ultra/ultramel anery motley from (I believe) the Tequila Sunrise line. I'm thoroughly impressed with her colors and can't wait to produce more. Sabriel:
And last, but certainly not least, is Fuji. This is another Northwestern Berks pick up that I feel lucky to have gotten. He was just among a large group of snows for sale in the same container. I picked him out for his asymmetrical pattern and colors that I hoped would brighten with age. Well, as it turned out, he has only gotten pinker with every shed and the yellow on his neck is the color of a highlighter. Pictures never do him justice, but here he is regardless.
Well, I hope no one minded my ramblings but for the most part enjoyed the pictures. Thanks for looking!
