All Things Anery

Over the past two years I've been building on my corn collection, and I recently noticed that about half of my future breeders are homozygous for anerythrism. So I decided why not post a little thread comparing them all?

First up is Carla! I've had her for almost two years now, and she was my first non-classic corn. I feel I got incredibly lucky with her, as she was just picked up from a random table at the Northwestern Berks show for $18. I'm sure I'm biased, but I think she's pretty stunning for an anery, since even now her saddles have retained most of their dark black appearance and her contrast is amazing.

Next is Haku, a Christmas present from my mother. Although I don't really have any plans for her yet (as I'd like to take advantage of her near perfect zig zag pattern), I still find her to be a great addition.

And as for my ghost, Orion...well, he's new. As of a week ago. The circumstances are quite unfortunate. I don't know if anyone remembers, but I used to have a ghost stripe named Diego. He was doing great. One morning I found him with his head caught in the top of his enclosure. I opened it immediately, but he had already suffocated. I was, and still am, devastated. But he was supposed to be part of a breeding project for which I now had no male. So, I found Orion. Ghost het stripe, poss caramel/amel.

When I got Orion, I couldn't resist a few others. Along with a female opal to go with my lavender, I picked up this stunner to go with Fuji. She's an ultra/ultramel anery motley from (I believe) the Tequila Sunrise line. I'm thoroughly impressed with her colors and can't wait to produce more. Sabriel:

And last, but certainly not least, is Fuji. This is another Northwestern Berks pick up that I feel lucky to have gotten. He was just among a large group of snows for sale in the same container. I picked him out for his asymmetrical pattern and colors that I hoped would brighten with age. Well, as it turned out, he has only gotten pinker with every shed and the yellow on his neck is the color of a highlighter. Pictures never do him justice, but here he is regardless.

Well, I hope no one minded my ramblings but for the most part enjoyed the pictures. Thanks for looking!

What a nice collection! Carla is my fav, she is so dark! And with very little yellow.

A few days ago I was looking at my collection and realized more than half of my snakes are homo anery. Its strange how that happens. I really do like the grey and black snakes.

Wonderful pictures as always. And, I love the rambling, it's great to read a story with each picture or learn the history of the subject.

Pretty group you have there.

I love that "Snow" male! You could always put Haku to Fuji if you like the messy, zig zag patterns. At worst you would get all anerys het for amel with some of them having those sweet markings you like. Do you happen to know if Haku is het for anything?

Just my two cents.

Thanks for sharing.

Very nice and diverse group of anery genes I love them all, but that male snow is a looker and Orion just looks sweet:)

Wow, thanks for all the comments everyone!!! :)

As for Haku, I have no idea if she has any hets. Mom didn't tell me about any, so I doubt she was labelled as having them. But pairing her with Fuji could be a great idea!

And Orion is a bit of a spaz, at the moment. His face in that picture is actually pure terror. Hahahahaha My camera is huge and scary for them!
