Amel Male - Regular or Hopeful Diffused?

I don't know why I have it in my head to think this one is diffused, but I can dream right?

I'm thinking he's too orange to be a "normal" amel, especially compared to my other two amel males. Can he be diffused without black? If so, would he not be a regular diffused but perhaps an amel diffused? He has no black, so not a lava, unless he's a diffused lava?

I would bet on a fire perhaps. Or maybe a hypo amel. Could be a lavamel if the white isn't required. He's probably not a sunglow.

He's going to be one of those where I have to breed him to find out, isn't he?

I know common characteristics of diffused (aka bloodred) are a lack of pattern on the belly and the diffusion showing on the sides.
One of the most reliable ways to check on genetics is to do a test breeding with a female of carefully selected KNOWN genetics. Then, based on what you get as offspring, you will know what genetics your unknown carries.
As far as I know...the only other way to tell would be to track down the parents of the snake. Anything else would be a (educated) guess. Anyone doing the guessing would have to be better than me...although I don't see belly checkers. That doesn't mean much...but it could mean something?

Hmm... well, the only one I could possibly breed him to is my female ghost because I have what the breeder says she's het for. The problem is, she's still too small in my opinion to breed. It would kill me to have to wait an entire year to find out what he is. Okay, it might not kill me, but I don't wanna wait. :crying: I can't breed this year anyway. Could you trick corns into breeding out of season? :dgrin:

Definitely looks to me like a fire.
My looks nearly the same, and you can see the creeping at the belly.
I would say amel diffused.
Greetings
Chris

Your male is definitely diffused amel (fire). That belly is the biggest give away. Another thing I've noticed is that the saddles on most any diffused are being pulled from side to side. Not all of them, just some saddles. Maybe it's just me. Your female on the other post is a sunglow motley.

Thanks. When I wrote this, I didn't realize Fire was a Diffused type. :p

Of course, now that I want more pictures of him, he's turned pink/blue/gray... some color that means he's in blue. Any suggestions for name?

diffused = bloodred pattern, Bloodred is technically a linebred diffused bred for that deep rich red color. From what i understand anyway!

he's 100% Fire with a belly like that, and also you can see the diffusion in the lateral patterning :)

Out of curiosity, how much would a snake like him be worth alone? Assuming he has no hets?

I paid $100 for him, the female amel motley on my other post, a male butter, and what I think is an orange candycane female. All adults. It also included a 40 gallon breeder.

Gotta love Craigslist sometimes. I get wonderful deals there. Or, I found I'm extremely good at raffles. At the expo here last month, I won't two animals - a female leo gecko priced at $50 and a '09 corn (stripe ht cr and hy male). Not sure what he's worth though. I ended up paying $20 for 24 raffle tickets that were split between my roommate and myself.
