My friend Greg brought this gal to the show today with the thought he would sell her. She's an odd one though. She has (even after a shed) two black lines that run down her back on either side of her spine. This black wash gives her an odd dimensional look. He said the father has the same stripes of black running down his back too. I just thought I'd share her with you because I thought she was a unique looking normal.

Stunning! :eek1: I want!!!

Our okeetee also has dark striping similar. Not as dark though.

Yes these normals with the melanistic striping running through the blotches are interesting. I wouldn't mind having one. I am curious as to what would happen if it was bred to a normal stripe.:confused:

Here she's in blue but you can see the striping. Not as prominant but still beautiful in person.

That looks a lot like some of the wild types I've seen coming out South Carolina and parts of North Carolina. They are really neat looking critters with those stripes.

There is a expo in Columbia SC this weekend and typically at least 2 vendors have some with that black striping. I'll see if I can snap some photos.

Pics of others would be awesome. I know Gregg would love to see similar animals. This one has a funky belly pattern too.

Interesting how things come around full circle. Used to be most of the corns looked that way. A lot of people specifically bred that trait OUT of their stock to clean up the colors.

Funny thing he was ready to sell "him" but with everyone gushing over "him" he waffled. Then after I handled it and pointed out that "he" was ovulating, Greg pulled him off the table and we probed to confirm my thoughts. lol I think he is going to breed him back to the sire who also sports the stripes albeit faint due to his sheer size; the animal is a monster but sweet. Thanks for the offer though. There were a lot of people annoyed with me. I think there might have been a bidding war to purchase "him".
It will be fun to see offspring. I'll post pics if/when that happens.

Terri

No. The striping is sitting above the normal coloring, just like a dirty wash. The scales are perfect in every way from head to tail.

I have an adult pair from Serpenco lines that show something very similar. I'll try to snag some pictures later (possibly of them breeding) when I get home.
