An Update on Simon

Hallie

SNOW!!!!
Well, it seems as though it has been over a year since I've posted pictures of Simon, my albino western hoggie. He was a picky guy when I first got him, so he was a slow grower at first, but now he's growing like a weed.

He's a grumpy little bugger, but is incredibly entertaining.

Enjoy!! :)

That's a beautiful hognose! I had a normal western hog that was VERY grumpy. And easily excited to the point of flinging feces at me when I was handling him. I finally decided I didn't want to have to deal with that, so I found a new home for him. Is Simon that grumpy? I love the hognoses and would like to get another one some day, but this experience has made me think twice.

Thanks! Most days, he is that cranky. He has poo flinging down to a science. I've come to find that if he hisses and flings himself around when I open his lid, it isn't a handling kind of day, so we don't hang out. If he's quiet when I open his lid, he's an angel when I pick him up and he can come hang for a bit. Most hoggies, from what I've heard, aren't that grumpy. If you can get to a show or a breeder to handle some before buying, that might be the way to go for you.

OMG I want one lol ... very nice :)

Thank you, Darren. :D

Hallie, Simon is actually VERY cute! He appears to be smiling.

Thanks, Tina! He does have a little smile on his wee face, doesn't he? See his little smile?

Well, he looks happier than the snakey in your avatar LOL

 Yeah, that's Casanova the LTR. He's all bark and not much bite though...he poses and he strikes and will occasionally snag a tooth on a finger, but isn't actually scary or ill tempered.

He's so big now! The guy I have is pretty mellow. Sometimes he hisses and lunges when I offer food he doesnt want (his way of telling me hes not in the mood to eat) but is never grumpy when I take him out for handling. On Thanksgiving, my cousin handled him for a solid 30 minutes with no issues.

Such great little snakes! I would love another, but they come with a hefty price tag for any morph it seems. Besides, Im holding out for a mini-boa ;)
