Another Bulb Question. Sry BUT NEED HELP ASAP

Hey all,
How is ev1 doing. Havent' been around in a long time but things have been very hectic here. But Anubis is doing GREAT. Getting very big. My question is:
Can I use a reg 100 watt light bulb. REASON: my bulb blew the other day and i had a back up of course. It was a brand new bulb and it blew in about a hr. The pet store don't have any and wont' be getting any in until "SOMETIME" after xmas. All i have is 50 watt infrared bulbs but they not getting the temp past 79 on hot side. So can I use a 100 watt bulb for now? Hope someone can help me. Anubis is due for another feedin tomorrow. :( Tks all.

Well, I'm new to corns, but not snakes, and I have been using regular lightbulbs for both my garters (lower wattage and lower heat requirements) and the corns. However, I tried a 100 watt, and it was too hot over our 35 or larger, not sure the size, converted aquarium. We switched to a 75 watt, and that seems to do the trick. I defer to more knowledgeable people here, take their advice over mine, but if your little snakies are cold, I think you can safely use a regular incandescent to get by until your preferred heat source is available.

If you have it hooked to a thermostat I would think it would be ok until you can get the
normal bulb you use.
