Hi, I've been lurking on and off for awhile, no corns currently; I did have a baby briefly years ago but he moved with the ex and didn't survive :(

I have been bugging my husband to get one for a while, our daughter is 3 and LOVES them (something she gets from me); we went to handle one at a local pet shop and she was so excited.

I'm debating how much of a good idea it'd be at this point, because I have a very playful year old cat who climbs on everything and streaks about the house like a crazed squirrel. I'm sure lots of people have no issue with the two species "cohabiting" but I'm just not sure yet. I want to go the sterilite route, especially as down the line I dream of having a small collection of corns. ;)

So I'm here to ask questions, learn, and live vicariously until all parties are agreed upon. :)

PS: Staying here will only make you want corns more, and can almost garantee that You'll have one before long because you just couldn't stop drooling about the things you'll find in here lol ;-)

Hey there, I'm another newbie with a playfull cat as well. While the cat does tend to sit and watch the corn, she hasn't gone for him either inside or outside the tank.

Mind you, she brings me "presents" she's hunted... I think she may be getting jealous.
A snake is a wonderful pet for a child as well, as long as you can teach her boundaries with it. As well, even if it did go to bite her (Which is unlikely) it hurts much less then a cat's scratch. The first time it happened to me, the sight of blood scared me more then anything.
