hey guys...i bought a normal snake while on vacation almost 2 months ago. we had a couple "bumps" as it was my first snake but were all good now! ;-) hes still a baby. a June hatchling i think, the very end of June....he was pretty overpriced for a baby normal snake, but i called around my hometown and there were none, and over the week of my vacation i fell in love with the litte guy! there is a reptile show around here August 20 something. i was wondering, if i saw another baby that i just "had to have" would it be okay to put the two together? when i took him he had about 2 or 3 other companions...but they were all just toooo expensive for corns... or do you guys think i should just stick with the one i have?? let me know what you guys think...

I'm not going to lecture, so I'll simply say do a search on the forums for 'cohabitation' or 'housing snakes together' and read up. The opinions are very divided.

How much did you pay for the normal?

40$ :crazy02: yeeowch...apparently very expensive for a normal baby...but i totally fell in love with it lol...and there were NONE anywhere near where i live...until this reptile show at the end of that month...but i got him anyways!! i still think he was worth the 39.99. lol.

Ah, that's OK if you love him!

It's probably about 2 or 2½ times what you'd pay if you went through a breeder but if it's good for you then we're all happy for you!

If you had a $15 snake shipped to you it would end up costing $60 anyway!

If it makes you feel any better, they are selling the normals for 79.99 at a pet store near here. If you're happy with him, that's what matters!

yea i payed a pretty pennie for my normal too but i love him :D around 59.99 i was like wow lol

Yeah, I paid $40 for my normal too. But when you find that one you just fall in love with... *sigh* definitely worth every penny :)

Yikes! I fly out to Burbank on business a couple of times a year. Want to go into the corn snake business together :roflmao:

lol...im definately happy with him...i told my dad i was getting him and not my mom or sisters who are absolutely TERRIFIED of snakes..they werent too happy when they first saw it :) i never had a thing for them but on my vacation at my sisters house her neighbors had a Redtail Boa and an albino Burmese Python....and i was like hey there pretty cool...so here i am!! :p...i researched them the whole time i was there, and after i got back realized i could get one for about 10-20$ shipped. i was like what?!?!?...then i realized shipping is like 40$...lol. but hes awesome... going for uniqueness i named him Plisken...from the movie "Escape from New York". lol. i plan to post some pics after his first shed. :grin01:

I've never bought a hatchling normal but I payed 300kr (about 45 USD) for my adult proven female with lots of hets. That's actually what you normally pay for a hatchling like her around here but I batted my eyelids just so...and got her cheap!

A normal hatchling cost around 35-50 US dollars if you buy one her at a show or through an advert, or up to about $80 or so through a shop.

You have to take into account though that this is Sweden and we have generally higher prices on animals alng with higher incomes and higher cost of living...so it all evens out in the wash.

I paid $40 for my first corn who is a normal (but turned out the be het anery). Worth every penny in my book.

I also paid $50 plus 3 hatchlings for my snow!! They were asking $100 for him but I couldn't resist so I cut a deal. Did I spend too much, absolutely, do I wish I hadn't, absolutely not. I'm glad I got him, he's the prettiest snow I've seen to date (IMO) and the best snake I've ever had as far as temperment goes.
