Hi there, my corn poos on me most times that I take him out. Hes really healthy, doing well. Feeding great, a pinky every 5 days. He is an Aug03 hatchling. He seems ok with coming out and being handled cos when I try to put him back in his hide he climbs out around my hand again. But the poo thing is gross!!! I caught him about to do it this morning when I was handling and I put him back in just in time!
My kids don't want to handle him now, has anyone any ideas???
Maria:confused:

Hi Maria

My corn also use to poo on me.

The worst thing you could do is to put it back after pooping on you. Snakes use the poo on nasty hand trick as a self defence mechanism (if you put the snake back it reinforces this self defence mechanism).

Next time the snake poo on you just keep on handling it as if nothing happened. The snake will realise that the poo tactic is not working and it will soon stop doing it.

Just my 2 cents:D

oh yuk!

Okey dokey, I will do that....... gross!! This better work, I didn't think that snakes would be so crafty. Right I'll show him;)
Thanks for that.
Maria

I got about 6days worth on my leg last night isn't nice feeling it soak in your trousers but liek was said they realise if you aint puttin em straight back that aint gonna work.

Hehehe .. being pooed on is not nice:eek:

Mine (Barney), started doing it about two weeks after I first got him. He was around 6-8 weeks when bought. The first time it happened I thought he had split open:eek: but after realising what it was I stuck him straight back in his tub. I then read on here that if you keep hold of them after they`ve pooed and don`t put them straight back, they stop doing it. So now what I do is keep a towel on standby just in case. That way he can poo as much as he likes and he doesn`t get away with his `put me back` trick.

Saying that ... it seems to depend on when I actually handle him. He tends to do it more if I handle him later in the evening.

So early handling it is from now on:D

Thanks heaps guys

Thats great, all that has helped me and I go about with my paper towel at all times!! I hope he stops doing it eventually.
Brilliant, ta,
Maria:D

I forgot to say as well ... don`t know about the others` snakes, but Barney tends to go very still when he`s about to `drop his load`<---- sorry, I couldn`t think of another way to put it!!! .. He also lifts his head slightly as if he`s deciding whether or not to do it!! Then his tail gives a little shiver and out it comes. Hehehe At least I get a warning I spose!!:D

thats weird. mine has never pooed on me before. ive never really seen its poo. ive cleaned soiled substrait up, but it was dried so i couldnt really examine it.

Oh dear poor you!

I am really sorry to hear you have never been pooed on! Its an experience of a life time.
Maybe I shouldn't have mentioned it as now everyone will be want to be pooed on to experience it!! TEE HEE HEE;) I am glad I am one of those lucky elite few!!
Maria:D

Our beloved Cody "sprayed" my wife while she was holding him. I almost pooed myself from laughing so hard!! (it wasn't on me) I couldn't believe such a little snake could have that much poo in it at one time.

Ha ha

My fella does it most times and I don't go anywhere without my piece of extra thick kitchen towel!!!!!!!! :D

Sometimes you just get a snake that's like that. My Wadjet is that way:p, and Abigail is too, but at first I wasn't too sure:).

BTW, I'm Jason's daughter, Terra. Glad to finally have my own account here!

This has happened to me about 3 times in my 2 years of having corns.
Now I've learned to recognize the signs; like Mayte said, they go very still just before. Also, if I've fed the snake 2 or 3 days before, I don't hold it until after it's pooped in its cage.

Since I last posted, I`ve discovered that I am a snake poo blanket :D All 4 of mine and Ice`s snakes have had a poo when I`ve been handling them.

One thing I did notice though .. Whenever I got my Barney out (ooer!!) I used to let him let him wander over a towel. Thats when he`d poo. We let out our big pine Tess out one evening and let her wander for ages (again over a towel). Well .. did she poo or did she poo?!? (Unfortunately I was lying on my back at the time and she dropped it right between the backs of my knees. I couldn`t move just in case I rolled into it:/ It stank!!!! Ice had to lift her off and tell me where to move so I didn`t squelch into it hahahaha).

Then about a week or two ago, we were getting a little bit concerned about our other pine, Roxy. She didn`t seem to have had a poo. She had just shed so we weren`t that worried but we were begining to think she might be a bit constipated. So, I had a brainwave. All the others seemed to poo when they were left to wander on a towel. Roxy was taken out of her tub and left to have a little slither. Within 20 mins .. hey presto .. another little parcel for me:) :) Monty, our other corn, has since done the same.

Maybe its the feeling of the towel as the slide over it .. I think its more a case of exercise. Isn`t a lot of exercise what a doctor recommends if a human is a bit bunged up?

Rest assured ... there will always be a towel on hand whenever mine go poo-about:)

Hee hee

I never thought I would be so dependent on a piece of Kitchen towel!!!!!!
Never go nowhere without it:cool:

My husband was the honorary poop recipient of our new snake. He obviously likes me better!! :)

Neo!

Never been pooped on? Just you wait, NO ONE keeps snakes for any length of time without so many they eventually have their fave "poo story!"

My one can top most blaze and me were playing quite hapily the other day when for no reason he just shot up to my face and down my top just as i went to get him out his tail wis still on my chin and he let go so i got snake pee/poo alllllllllll down my chin, neck, chest etc and as if it couldn't get worse i went to put him back and he did another landing on my foot and the floor - how bitter i was lmao!
