Anyone else having trouble breeding corns?

I have been introducing my 2 cornsnakes every Sunday since March, and they still haven't done anything. We had a very mild winter here in my part of Ohio, not to mention I decided not to brumate them. I think because of this mild winter it could have messed up some inner cycle they have, I'm not sure. My male is very interested in my female, but my female isn't interested in him. I've tried misting their cages down as well, to raise the humidity level. i usually watch them from afar, as they are in clear sterilite bins, but so far they just don't do anything...

I've had a couple pairs that didn't really want to do anything this year. From my understanding, quite a few people are having luck with late bloomers.

Yes, I am positive she is a female. My male is incredibly interested in copulating, and he even bit her neck to hold her place once. As for egg laying, neither of them have ever bred before.

I had two male bull snakes once, had bought them as a pair, and the one was always very VERY interested in breeding. He went through all the motions but the supposed female never was interested. Turns out we had two males. It's always possible that they are both males.

I can't brumate in Florida, and my guys breed readily (when the female agrees!) and have fertile clutches.

I would add in trying on evenings when you have nice thunderstorms rolling through.

I have a pair that just finished breeding a couple weeks ago- so the season is still going.

But- how do you _know_ your female is sexed correctly?

It's also possible you just missed it. If you aren't doing something similar already, put them together in a cage with paper towel or newspaper as the substrate, then if something happens you're pretty likely to know.

Talking about bull snakes, the first snakes I ever bred were gopher snakes. I didn't know that ANYTHING had happened until I saw her laying eggs!

I got my female from a very reputable breeder who probed her prior to selling her. In addition, her tail is much thinner than my male's. I just tried putting them together a few hours ago; still nothing. I'll keep trying to introduce them, but I was also thinking about maybe buying another female to try with the male I have, as I've been wanting another corn anyway.

As they say you can never 100% guarantee it's a female until she lays eggs, nothing against the breeder but I think we are all trying to say sometimes it happens. It very well could also be that she is "picky" as some females won't breed to just any male, or you have missed it or she isn't ready. I wouldn't panic though.

Yeah it is true that even the best of the best have missed sexed snakes before, it happens. I don't brumate mine either and I have had some breed as early as January and as late as last week this year. So I wouldn't give up just yet.
