wisconsin

brandon
hi all, i have two picky eater (both young) temps and everything are good substrate=aspen humidity good too.
they are just plain picky eaters and they might be 'mouse shy'???
anything u guys know of on the market to help my little guy?
an appetite stimulator?
grapefruit seed?
what do i do????
they are just plain turned off by fuzzies

I don't know of anything that stimulates appetite. You might try scenting with a lizard to see if it will get them interested. Usually, just hunger is the stimulation. My three Okeetees were very on/off when they were younger. Not eating before shed...sometimes 2 to 3 weeks before. As adults though, they are eating machines! They are all quite large too...all at 4 ft. or over.

You say they are turned off by fuzzies. Will they still eat pinkies, especially large ones? Some hatchlings have a little "problem" with hair. Since I have easy access to rat pinks, I simply use them instead of mice fuzzies. However, I just had a "brain fart" and am wondering if simply doing a quick shave of the fuzzy would work. You wouldn't have to get every hair off, but a straight razor would do a decent enough job. And you could gradually shave less hair off as your hatchling gets used to it.
