Are some feeder sources better than others?

I picked up my pack of pinkies at PetSmart, Arctic Mice brand. I got to thinking that the nutrition that the snake can get from the feeder probably depends a lot on the healthiness of the feeder itself, so are there some feeder sources that come more highly recommended than others? Any to avoid? Thanks!

I've been pretty happy with micicles from Rodent Pro. I'd rather get my supply from them, than those petstores, they're less expensive too.
If you do not have the space/$$ to order bulk, talk to someone local about going in on an order.
I see you're in my neck of the woods (western WA), have you checked out the PNWHS forum?

There are some people who supply feeders, as well as some who order in bulk & sell smaller portions to those who do not have the room/$$ for big bulk orders.

I have been talking to another PNWHS member about going in on a frodent order in the near future. PM me if you are interested, or introduce yourself on the PNWHS & ask for local feeder breeders.

Any of the people that have been around and developed a good reputation are good to buy from. Usually it come down to ordering from the closest to keep the cost of shipping down. Also special sales are a good time to buy in quantity.

Petsmart buys from these same large rodent breeders and has them packaged in smaller quantities and fancy wrappers. That's why you pay so much more.

Petsmart is fine if you only have a snake or two. It's when the collection starts to grow that larger quantities and costs have to be dealt with.

The best local supplier is Glacier Rodents, Bill Graham. His colonies are vet checked at least twice a year, he supplies the local zoos and he's a great guy to do business with. He's at almost every show in the Seattle/Portland area all year round. I've been lucky enough to get to know him and I've been allowed to his visit breeding facility. I pick up from him directly, but he'll probably be willing to meet you for an order.

Thank you very much for the suggestions! I will look into a local feeder source or an order from one of the companies recommended. I am glad to know that the main brands at the pet stores are okay, too. I like the sounds of Glacier Rodents with the vet checks and will have to look into them. Thanks again!
