Are these corns what they are told to be?

Bloodred and butters are not very commen in Denmark.. And i just recieved and offer on these snakes - Are they what they are told to be?

Bloodred:

I dont see alot of "kull" pattern on it - What is your opinion?

Sunkissed Butter:

It just seem wierd that butters are so rare in DK, and suddenly a triple morph including Butter shows up.. And the price inst bad! It bugs me :D

I'd need a ventral pic to pass judgement on the 'bloodred'. The 'sunkissed butters' look more like creamsicles to me (not to mention I'm not aware of anyone having produced any triple-homozygous morphs with sunkissed yet, though I'm sure Rich has made atleast one). If the price is low, then my money is on them being creamsicles. And if both snakes are from the same breeder, then the 'bloodred' is highly suspect as well.

No. I suspect the 'bloodred' to be not-a-bloodred. When someone says that something is suspect, it means that what's been presented is questionable, not that they suspect it to be something specific.

Funny how whether a word is a noun or a verb can change the meaning a bit, no?

I have often seen confusion with hets. I will sell somebody a het butter, for example, and when they email me about it, they will call it a butter. Although I correct them, I suspect that some of them will eventually breed the hets and call all of the babies butters instead of hets, or possible hets, as the case may be. Perhaps these are hets, not the actual morph? Check with the breeder to see if that is possible.

I think there is a possibility that is a blood. I agree that the head pattern is as you say suspect  , but I see light read shading in the background and i think i can see a hint of a blood pattern on the sides but it is hard to tell. If you can post better pics, one definitly of its belly we might be able to tell a little better.

Can't say either way if they are or aren't but you will find that a lot of outcrossed bloodreds are being sold as bloodreds in Scandinavia. You can always ask the seller to show you eveidence of what parents the hatchlings came out of or question them on their knowledge of the genetics involved in breeding that particular morph.

Just a thought. Are these snakes coming from someone called Malene at Star-Reptiles.dk? If so...WHAT THE HELL is an apricot cornsnake? and what exactly is a butter/sunglow? -is it a butter...or a sunglow?????

If it is from her...those prices are crazy!!!! -keep your cash to yourself...I might see you this weekend at Rødovre.

Cheers,
A

hehehe -I also just saw that she's selling a pair of anery hatchlings for what I'd ask for about 5 anery hatchlings...sheesh!!!

BTW... it's a 'skull' pattern, not a 'kull' pattern. Not all bloodreds have a skull pattern on their head either. But without a belly pic it's impossible to look at that snake and tell whether it's a bloodred or not.

I know it is "Skull" but im lacking an "EDIT" button here :D And didnt want to make a new post to change it..
