Armed Forces Day

beautifullywild77

Go Penguins!!!
President Harry S. Truman led the effort to establish a single holiday for citizens to come together and thank our military members for their patriotic service in support of our country.

To all our Military, serving and Veterans, we thank you on this Armed Forces Day.

ARMED FORCES DAY

STRONG AND RESILIENT
Prepared To Meet Any Challenge

On August 31, 1949, Secretary of Defense Louis Johnson announced the creation of an Armed Forces Day to replace separate Army, Navy, Marine Corps and Air Force Days.

The single day celebration stemmed from the unification of the Armed Forces under the Department of Defense.

Grandfather (Navy), Dad (Navy), Army (myself) and now my youngest son (marines)... they youngest to graduate in over 30 years according to his instructors. So young in fact that he was not able to get one of his security clearances because he was too young. Yeah, I'm proud of my young marine. I salute everyone who has taken up the oath to defend our country.

A Big thanks to anyone who is serving or has served in the military! my brother will be on his way back from Afghanistan soon! :)
