Hey all
Avatar had his first feeding with me tonight. Woohoo! So far so good. Thanks to this site I think everything is gonna be okay.
I picked him up on Saturday. They told me Av ate on Tuesday. I decided to wait for a while to feed Av so that he could get accustomed to the place. I was worried if I tried too early he wouldn't take. Well usually he hides as soon as I or the kids come in the room. Tonight while cruising the boards here I decided to make some burgers. As soon as they started cooking he was at the front of the viv moving back and forth and going up to the top for a smell. Well I decided to give it a try.
:-offtopic I went into chat to see if I could get some quick advice for thawing pinkies. I got one serious answer and 10 smartass answers. Usuall juvenile chatter anymore in any chatrooms. I went back to the boards for more search.
Anyway back to the story...
I placed him in a small rubbermaid lockable container with some paper towel to hide in. I placed him in and he looked around. I let him get comfy then got the pinkie ready. 10-15 minutes thawing in warm water while I got Avatar ready. I placed the pinky in the dish away from the towels and put a thick white hand towel over the dish for privacy. I left thinking I'd wait an hour. Yeah right. I was just too excited. I came back and peaked in after 15 minutes. He had already ate the pinkie and was cruising the container.
:-offtopic I tried to take some pics before putting him back but my digital is horrible. It's old and all the macro shots were out of focus or poorly lit. I've beat that thing up. I'm definately getting my slr cleaned. I'm thinking of setting up my Sony digital 8 with night vision as a webcam and using motion detection software to spy on Avatar.
I placed him back and hopefully he'll be okay for the next couple days with no regurge or anything. Tank is 80-81 in the substrate on the warm side and 77 on the cool side. Humidity is at 68-70.
On this picture you can see the lump three quarters of the way down.
Thanks again for all the help everyone.
