Awesome fish story.

It's a cute story. I do have a problem with the "large" tank they were in though. Six inch or better fish need more than a 26 gallon tank, just for one fish. If there were more than a handful, I'm severely surprised they lived.

Had a lady bring in 45 Platties, that averaged at least 1.5 inches each, 2 Cory Cats that were 2+inches long each, and 2 Pleco's that were between 4-7 inches long... They had all been in a 20 gallon tank, and it had not been cleaned in 4 years.... I almost went ballistic on her, and wanted to tell her that if she did not want to take care of her fish, then she did not need to get them in the first place.... But, they are slowly finding new homes with people who care...
Oh, and she started out with 8 fish... I would like to meet the person who sold her the fish, and told her it was alright to put 8 fish, many of which breed like crazy, in a 20 gallon, and that she would never have to do any water changes.

Ah, goldfish are tough. I moved into a house once that had what was basically a mud puddle in the back yard and was frozen over. Under the ice you could see orange things not moving. When spring thaw came around all the orange things were goldfish looking for food.

Awwwwww! Cute story of survival!

One question remains! Why the heck can I keep a 100 dollar betta alive, but not a 2 dollar goldfish?!

Same reason I can care for my WC box turtle, but my leopard geckos aren't thriving. I love goldfish, but I guilted one into dying. I spent $30 on a beautiful black fancy only for it to start turning orange. I told it every day that if I wanted another orange goldfish, I wouldn't have paid $30. One day I found the poor thing dead.
