baby kingsnake in trouble (?)

I have a 4 month old kingsnake and the scales on his head/face have been peeling in the last couple days. He eats regularly and acts normal as far as I can tell, but the scales on the top of his head over his eyes look like they are peeling and appear brown / dirty, when they would normally be shiny black. I'm not sure what the problem is or what to do as this is my first snake. He does spend a lot of his time trying to escape from his tank so maybe the issue is from rubbing his head against the screen lid of the tank. Any help would be great :)

p.s. He shed his skin about 2 weeks ago so I don't think that's what is happening now either.

If you can post any pictures it may be helpful...
Are any of the scales peeling off in areas besides the head?

All the best,

Sounds to me like a snake that has nose rub. He's frantically looking for a way out and damaging his self in the process. Just a quick question--how often do you feed him?
