To use the baby wipes for picking up poop or to use on the sides of the tank? I don't see why it would be dangerous to pick up poop, but I don't think it would be a great idea to use on the glass panels. It would probably leave an icky film. I use this on the sides and it works awesome! Has a nice fresh smell to it too! I just use regular paper towels to spot clean.
What chemicals do they wipes have on them? Should say on the packet somewhere. You'll only know if they're safe if you can confirm that the chemicals are harmless to snakes.
the ones i have now are scented but only from a flower extract (Chamomilla Recutita Flower Extract to be exact), but in general do you reckon babywipes would harm a snake (im literally only using it to pick off stuck poop on the side and not wiping the whole viv)
Without identifiying the chemicals in them, there's no way of knowing.
A bit of damp kitchen paper would do much the same thing. You can get reptile-safe disinfectant that can be diluted and kept in a plant mister. Damp the kitchen roll down with that and you have a guaranteed-safe wet wipe for spot cleaning.
I use white vinegar diluted 1/2 and 1/2 with water. I keep that in a spray bottle and use paper towels. Vinegar is a disinfectant and odor neutralizer.
I use the 'could you eat it?' test for anything I put in the snake's vivs. If the baby wipes are just soap, then you are safe. You can eat soap and be fine.
If you are asking if baby wipes will kill or hurt your snake, probably not. I've never heard of a problem.
Here's a PDF document of the chemicals used in various makes of baby wipe. Personally, I wouldn't eat any of them (frankly, I'm not sure if I'd want them anywhere near a baby of mine either, but that's another story)!
I wouldn't use baby wipes on my baby, either, so that makes me kinda biased against them.
In general use, I don't think they are going to cause a lethal reaction to a snake any more than wearing a scented lotion before handling your snake.
