bake dried coco fiber?

shank the wiggles

1/2 man 1/2 amazing
Would this be an ok substrate? I know that everyone reccomends aspen but I just bought my gf a crested gecko and I figured I could knock two birds out with one stone. I figured this might even be beneficial to the snake in shed since I could give it a few sprays around its warm hide.

of course every other day of the week the fibers would have to be dry as arizona in the summer :flames:

I honestly think this would cause more problems than its worth... it isnt the nicest substrate in the world to use , and when it dries its awfull!

I have also had a major problem using it with cresteds too - when they go to catch food it often adheres to their toe pads and if they get a mouthfull of it it can kill them.

If it were me, id use something like aspen for the corn (not wanting to start another substarete debate!) and kitchen towel & moss for the cresty.

Hope this is of some help!

alright you have convinced me.. I am on the way to the pet shop right now!

This is so weird... I was going to make a post on the same subject.
I have always advocated the use of coco fibres, they seemed to be the answer to so many problems, Humidity, impaction etc. But I have been wondering about the fact it can get between the scales. I have stopped using it this week.
I don't know if I will use it again.
I only had, 3 on it, Mostyn, Sid, and Terrance.
I have left it in Terrances viv for the moment as I don't think it presents the same problems to a Tegu as the scales are so much smaller. (well except on the head)
