Ball Python Help

I know this is a corn snake, but I've noticed quite a few of you on here also have ball Pythons, so I figured I'd give it a shot. I'm setting up a cage for a Ball and was curious if I should use a UTH, Basking light or both? i just want to make sure to set this up right, so the snake can be as comfortable as possible. Thanks for the help

If you are in a really cold area, a basking light can help keep temps up in the winter. Normally a UTH will do the job, but if it's chilly you will need a boost from the light.

Is this an all glass aquarium? You are going to want to cover a few of the sides for a while to make sure your BP is comfortable and eating. Sometimes tanks freak them out and they go off feed.

I live in Northern Canada and all I use are UTH heaters. All mine are in racks mind you, but no other heating required. Your house temp should be fairly close to the same year round. So long as you have some sort of temperature control device there shouldn't be an issue

I live in southern IL, so not too cold compared to Canada!! I've got her in a tank right now, but will shortly be moving to a wood enclosure with a glass door. I wasn't sure if they required a basking light or not. Thanks for the help

My concern with the basking light will be the lack of humidity. You'll want to ensure the snake has plenty of humidity, especially during shed. So long as you have normal ambient temps, I think you should be OK w/o the basking lamp. But if she's in a spot near a window or a drafty room, you'll just have to see.
