bamboo?

Picked some up from the dollar store..... the stuff is cheap here. But just wanted to double check

If it's sealed properly (which if it was sold as some sort of decoration or whatnot it probably is) it's fine. I've seen people use bamboo in their arboreal cages instead of pvc or dowel rod. If it isn't sealed, it's a different matter. If I remember correctly it's a rather oily/resinous wood naturally.

Sealed....what do you mean....sealed? How can I tell if it's sealed? It was sold at the dollar store.

I don't think bamboo is resinous. It's used for all kinds of kitchen tools, cutting boards, steamers, and even flooring.

Bamboo tends to split eventually and the edges are rather sharp. If you decide to use it get in the habit of checking it regularly and replace if you see a split starting to develop.

I've used the bamboo from the dollar store for arboreal geckos. I've never had any problems, and it works great.
