Hi, my name is Pat Glazener-Cooney. I have been lurking around since August and finally decided to be more involved. I have enjoyed getting to know y'all through your posts.
I am a United Methodist Pastor with a life long interest in Herps. I have been keeping Herps since 1964, longer than a lot of you have been alive (yup, I'm an old F@&*)!!!! But I still consider myself a Newbie!! Right now I have 50+ snakes: Sonoran Gophers, Stillwater Bulls, Several Morphs of "Brooksi" Kings, Several Locales of Sonoran Kings, Mexican Black Kings, Nelson's Milks, and 29 Corns. Studies show that being a Pastor is a High Stress Job. One needs a Hobby to keep sane. So my snakes have me!
Look forward to getting to know Y'all better!!!!
Shalom,
Pat Glazener-Cooney

Welcome. :) Sounds like you have a heck of a collection. Don't forget to post photos of your corns in the photo gallery, and photos of your non-corns in the general chit-chat sub-forum. :wavey:

Welcome! Glad to have you here.
My step-father is a Methodist Pastor as well, but his hobby is gardening. I find yours much more interesting!! I look forward to seeing pics of your snakes!

Unfortunately (or by the grace of God! Whichever!) Methodist Pastors are not like T>V> Preachers. We don't have a bunch of extra $$$. Mine goes for food and maintenance. So I do not have a Camera. Not sure it would make any difference--I am sadly techno challenged!!! It's all I can do to post here. But hey, anything is possible!!!!

I remember 1964. I from what I can remember .... it was a pretty good year. :grin01:

Welcome, I glad you not lurking anymore, I don't like people lookin over my shoulder. :crazy02:

Good to have you aboard. Are you breeding the Mexican Black Kings? I might be interested in a trade if you are. I can always use more garbage disposals.
There has always been a stigma on snakes and people that have snakes, especially from "religious" people. Just out of curiosity, what do your church members think about your hobby. As a Christian I run into this stigma at times, but have found biblical evidence that may not necessarily support keeping snakes as pets (this was not an issue back then), but I have found no evidence that would refute keeping serpents as pets. Just curious as to your response to people who think "snakes are evil."

Hey Mike,
No, I'm not Breeding them but I have a friend that I can get them from. A trade would be great! Let me know!
As to the religious implications of snakes, Satan used the snake to do his dirty work. He also used Peter. Now I don't stay away from people because Satan uses them. Neither will I stay away from snakes, one of God's own creatures. The only evil snake I have ever been around is a Burmese Python I had in 1966. That sucker was sneaky. I still carry the scars!!!!

I wanted to welcome you to the forums, as well. Sounds like you have an incredible collection. Perhaps you could draw a few on Paint and post them in the photo section? Ha ha. Just joking.

Ahoy and God bless!

An old fart at 55? They must have lowered the minimum age requirement. :shrugs:

Oh, please say it isn't so! I'm not too far behind that number and I simply can't be considered even an "almost" old fart!

And welcome to the forum Pat! Some of us could use a little ministration on occasion...especially in Chat. Or perhaps I should say, more appropriately, a little admonition on occasion.

Welcome to the forum Pat! Sounds like you have a mighty fine collection going. :)
