Best Apartment Warming Gift EVER!!!

Eriathiel

Short and Sweet
Well - its a little bit of a story so hang on!

So a while ago - maybe a month or more - I saw an ad on Reptile Rooms about a Bearded Dragon in Cleveland who needed a new home because her owner is going to college. I mentioned it to my boyfriend and said how nice it would be to have a beardie, and without me knowing he contacted the owner and last night said he had a surprise for me. We went for a drive and 1/2 and hour later picked up my new beardie!!!!

The owner was the nicest kid ever - he really cared for her, but wanted to find her a good home since he was leaving for college. He sold us all of her stuff for $25!

She's just a normal colored beardie, but I think she's beautiful! I am going to change the tank around a bit - get some new things to add to it today! No name for her yet - they were calling her Draco but I want a female name for her.

Here is my best apartment warming gift EVER!

Awesome gift! My girlfriend is throwing a house warming for us next week, if only i could expect a BD! Hope you guys settle in nicely :D

S/he is beautiful, and obviously really well taken care of. Congrats on such a fantastic gift!

That is awsome. I wish I got gifts like that, I usually get plates or tp or something I "need". Ive been thinking of getting one, but need to do more research first. Glad you could rehome one.. that is awsome.

I would highly suggest you pull that crushed walnut out of the cage. I kept my BDs on that for a while, and then discovered they were ingesting it and it doesn't digest at all...They poop it back out whole (figured it out when they pooed during bath time), though I would imagine if they ate enough of it they would become impacted.

Slate tile is really easy to clean, and washed playsand is considered safe by most for adults. Hard to clean, though. Isabel has a little sand box, but mostly slate. She does like to dig, some days.

Congratulations! You are going to love her! They have so much personality. Are you sure she's a female?

Well the vet the previous owner took her too said she was a female - they named her before they found out she was a girl so I guess I'll trust them!

Thanks - I already decided to remove it! I had read that it wasn't great. They didn't have much in her cage so I plan to revamp the whole thing!

Thanks for the idea! I'll have to head over to home depot!

Maybe you should show some people this post... just to get the idea out there!

Thanks - I was happy I could give her a home too!

She's lovely! Congrats on the lovely house-warming present, from such a thoughtful bf!

I know isn't he? I'm so lucky. He's a really awesome BF.

Congrats Eriathiel! She looks great. I use tile also like Nanci. Looks like she may need more room. I use a 36x18x18 and most consider that minimal for an adult beardie.

My favorite name for a beardie so far is Squish, she belongs to a friend of mine. Someday we may get one. You're very lucky!

So how's she doing??? Is she eating her salad? The best BD forum is http://www.beardeddragon.org It wouldn't hurt to take her to the vet with a poop sample to see what kinds of parasites she has- Isabel was two when I got her and she had four kinds of worms and two kinds of coccidia! It all cleared up- she had four oral dewormings of Panacur and two rounds of one week Albon for coccidia, one week off. Crickets carry parasites, so I don't feed them- it was too expensive to get rid of the worms. I feed silkworms and hornworms, and sometimes superworms. I've had excellent service from http://www.coastalsilkworms.com I hope you're lucky and she's a healthy eater- Isabel is very finicky. Which is probably good- she's a porker!

Hey Nanci - thanks for asking! I was actually just going to message you to see if you would mind sending me some pictures of your tank setup so I could get ideas! And thanks for all the links - its a big help!

She's doing really great, she eats her veggies like a PRO! I'm so happy with her. I've been giving her mealies and she likes those as well! I was going to see where else I could get worms (pickings are slim in my new area) so that link was perfect! I'm so happy I have you to turn to for advice! I can't wait to redo her cage completely!
