Has your snake ever done anything clever that you thought would help him/ her survive in the wild?

For example: a couple of years ago I spray misted a corn coming out of brumation. The water beaded up on his back- he turned around and started drinking the beads of water on his back.

The oil on their scales beads and collects water ... maybe in a time of drought enough dew would form on the reptiles back to bead- sustaining him-like an external canteen. Not having to travel for water would improve his chances of survival.

Would be interested in hearing other stories.

I have one that could likely escape from any threatening situation or predator...

CAUSE IT REPEATEDLY ESCAPED DESPITE EFFORTS TO CONTAIN IT!

:D

Cav,

I know what you mean I have one bloodline that seems to repeatedly escape only to turn up in an obvious such as in my tub or my bed.
I jokingly call it my Houdini line.

Just last night I was attempting to feed one of my fickle eaters some live day old pinkies. She went over, and bit the pinkie rear end first, and instead of swallowing, she decided to beat the thing on her water bowl a couple times. When that didn't work to kill the pink, she dragged it into the water and held it there till it drowned and happily ate it. I guess they constrict less when they're feeling weak and resort to other ways of subduing prey.
