Best way for me to fix this?

In doing a complete clean out of one of my vivs, one of the big exoTerra vivs, I saw the bottom glass is cracked. The thermostat probe got dislodged and it must of cracked from the mat getting too hot, is all I can figure. I paid to much for that just to toss it aside or toss out. It's not sharp or broken. Am I crazy in thinking I can fudge fix it by maybe gluing a piece of plexi-glass or glass over it? And if that's doable, am I better getting a piece to cover the whole floor of the viv or can I get away with covering only half? I am so bummed out about this.

If it's just a crack, you can go over it with silicone sealant so maybe it won't crack any more. Make sure you use a non-toxic brand though, they sell them for repairing glass aquariums.

I have the same problem. I messed up and got the stick on mat you could easily fry an egg on. It's still stuck to the bottom and I'm just leaving it there, the super sticky on the heat pad probably is holding it together pretty well.

I wouldn't put any tape inside of the enclosure, but aquarium sealant is a great idea. I believe it is non-toxic and takes about 24 hours to cure completely before you could put the snake back in. Correct me if I'm wrong, though.

Bummer though, that is the reason why I ONLY keep thermostat probes on the OUTSIDE of enclosures. No need for it to be inside. Then you can seal down the thermometer probe on the inside right above the heat, and adjust until you hit the right temp. I use aquarium sealant to keep the thermometer probe down.

A hardware store should be able to cut a piece of glass to replace the whole bottom.

I picked up the aquarium sealant today. Non toxic, 24hrs to cure, 48hrs until she can go back in. She ate last night, so I'll be doing it Wednesday night. I hope it works to my liking, if not I'll go with getting glass/plexi cut to size to cover the floor. I feel bad moving her from a mansion to a small 10 gallon for a couple of days, but am glad I have it. Thanks for the help everyone, it's very much appreciated.

You can use duct tape over the cracked even if you have a heat mat under it doesn't look great but it's strong and if you have substrate down you won't see it any how. If you don't want to replace the glass and don't want tape you can go buy a rear view mirror kit at the auto parts store tell them you need the kit to re hang the mirror. I have used these kits and the adhesive the thin water like and extremely strong
