Hey all i have a ghost that was having troubles eating, she didn't eat for a good 3 weeks till i gave her a live pink. Well now that is all that she will eat, I offered her a frozen two days ago and she wouldn't eat it and now today i offered a live and wam she ate it fast any suggestions on how to wing her to frozen ?? Thanks :santa: Merry Christmas

I would suggest that you heat it up in a plastic bag so that the scent is strong and isn't washed off by the water. Also, make sure that the mouse is warmed up to the normal body temp of a live animal. That would be 100-101 degrees F. Most people feed it cooler than that, and sometimes you'll get a lackluster feeding response because of it. You can also heat the nose up with a lightbulb (be careful you don't burn it) just before you present it to make it real warm and simulate the heat coming from the nostrils.

i guess I am lucky, with my first snake (which has since past) and my new one...they only ate dead pinkies. I have tried to give both live, but they seemed scared of it. like they would sniff it, and when it would twitch, they would jump and scamper off. But when they approached a dead one, they would sniff and sniff and then slowley bite it, they never snapped or struck at a pinkie dead or alive, kinda push on it and slowly open their mouth. So when i buy the pink, i kill it and sometimes brain it to help them eat quicker.

This might sound gross, but one thing you can do to a f/t pinky is to squish its head until some fluid bubbles out of its nose. It will either be brains or blood. It saves you from having to poke a hole in the pinky's head, which I'm not sure I could do. It might make your corn want to eat it more. Also make sure the pinky is dry. Live mice aren't all wet and soggy like f/t ones can be.

I've been dealing with this issue for months and my 05 corn has just successfully eaten two frozen fuzzies. I offered a hot f/t fuzzy just after she shed. (When she acts like she's starving!) She took it immediately, even constricting it like she did the live. :crazy02: Maybe she'll continue to get the exercise that many get when eating live along with the safety of eating f/t!!
