Big Problem: I got the itch

Yeah the itch all right. The itch for more snakes. I bought a baby ball last week and loved it so much i had to expand my collection already. Here is a pic of my new baby corn. Albino flavored and just freshly shed. Right now he is stored in a large cake carrying container with water, a hide and air holes. I am planning on eventually moving him to my balls cage though as i am planning on getting something larger than a ten gallon for my ball.

I know these buggers are easier to take care of than the balls, but the only thing i am worried about right now is temps. My house temps are in the low 70's and i dont have the equip to heat his enclosure yet. I placed his cake bin on top of my balls cage though so it is sitting right next to the shroud of the lamp. I hope this is enough to provide him with adequate heat until i can upgrade tanks. ANyways, thanks and enjoy.

Welcome!

Looks like a snow! Which is a mix of Amel (albino) and Anery.

On one of the pics it looks like it has some shed retained... I am sure it doesn't though.

You are going to need some way to take the temp in the enclosure for the animal. Not knowing could be bad. The corn needs temps around 80-84. 78 is even ok just slows down the digestion.

Make sure the snake has access to water, enough heat (make sure the heat is not too much to burn it or anything), a place to get away from the heat, and a hide.

Next advice... read read read! It will save you a bunch of worry, going through the past pages on this site will help save you some grief.

Have fun!!!

yea it looks almost like the snow i bought a month ago....i have a question my snake and the snake in that picture all have a dark spot a few inches from the head what is that?????

The tank i have it going in has everything he needs as of now. I even got some warmth on him too so thats fine. That is a small piece of shed still on it though. How do i go about removing that?

Some kinda organ im guessing. Heart?

I use Shed Ease on mine just before and just after and so far the sheds have been next to perfect. Most pet stores should have it.

She/he is a beauty. Good luck and long life with your baby.

proper humidity in the tank will pretty much cure your problems with incomplete sheds. Now for that there piece, you are going to want to get some humidity on it, moisture... I would say a sandwich size gladware tub with a damp (see not soaked) paper towel as its base. The snake needs water in its system and moisture in the air to be able to shed properly. Leave it in that gladware overnight, the next day see if you can peel any away, you should be able to get some off. I have heard that shed ease or whachamacallit works well too.

Oh yea, bob thats its heart. look at your snake with a light behind it, i saw my snakes heart beating away today after i fed him/her (leaning towards a her after done some extensive reading). Too early to know for sure, but hey, Maine, Jane and Green Tree Pythons?
