Bigtiny introduces Angus

I'm new to the forum & new to the joys of corn snakes, but must say that my husband & I are enjoying the antics of Angus. Angus is nearly 5 feet long and belonged to my grandson's Spanish teacher and lived at school, where all the students loved him. He is used to being around people. Anyway, one day the teacher asked if anyone would be interested in taking Angus home, and my grandson's hand flew into the air. Angus came home with Ethan, and it wasn't too long before the newness wore off for Ethan & his family. I felt that Angus wasn't being loved enough, so I converted a 55 gallon tank into his new home. He seems super happy now. But this is my first experience, and I'm not very knowledgeable about snakes, so I am really loving the forum. I'm trying to send pictures, but am not having much luck.

Hi there and Welcome to the forum. Glad to hear Angus is happy in his big tank and that you are researching about how to care for him. I would guess from his name he is black and grey in color? We love pics so I will try and help you out.

If you want to post pics on this thread you have to click the Post Reply Blue Button located on the left above your first post or down on the let bellow the last post NOT the quick reply button. Or you can start a new thread in the photo gallery. Either way

* You will get the screen where you can type in the text box
* Scroll down the page to where you see the the Additional Options area
* Click on the Manage Attachments button
* A small upload window will come up
* There you can brows your computer files for the pics you want to upload
* When you have the pics you want be sure to push the upload button

* Wait a few seconds then minimize the upload window, you should see the pictures names
under the Manage Attachments button. If you don't your pictures were probably to
large for the up loader to re size. In the uploader window there is a key showing how
large the pictures can be for what filetype the pic is. I take high quality jpeg pics so I have to
crop them and resize them to 800 X 600 pix in my Photoshop program.

* When you figure that out and you have uploaded the pics you want to you can
preview your post, which I highly recommend. There is Preview Post button right next
to the Submit New Thread or Submit Reply buttons.

*When you are satisfied with your post, submit it :)

I hoped this has helped. You can also create a photo albums on your profile page.

Actually, Angus is orange&brown mottled color-I'm sure there is a better term! And thanks for the info- I'm getting ready to try it again!

I think we've figured it out- thanks for everyone's help. Hopefully, Angus will be seen.

Wow, he is nice! Is his belly solid white or does it have checkering? I am thinking he might be a motley because his patterning is nontypical for classic corns. And I don't see any black in his markings. Is that the picture or does he not have black patterning on his "topside"? Anyway, he's good looking and that looks like a good setup as long as the lights don't overheat him or overdry his environment.

This is the best shot I've got of his belly. I'll try to get a better one.

I just took some belly shots, but I must say that he is more white on his belly up nearer his head. And no he does not have any black topside. Thanks for the compliments, I think he's a handsome guy, and am sooo glad to have him.

I believe I've got the corn fever. I've been researching and have been amazed as to the variety of colors. I do think I see another one is our future.

The picture makes it appear that there are 3 lights, when actually there is only one light with a basking bulb. I've been afraid he isn't warm enough. Warm end on viv is @83 degrees.

Amel motley is my guess with the solid belly. And 83F on the warm side should be pretty nearly perfect!
