Bird Like Droppings!??

Hiya,

I was not expecting to have to ask a question so soon!

I have had my snake for a little over 2 weeks now.

I was handling my snake this evening and realised he had pooped on my jeans. I have yet to find any droppings in his viv.

The poop looked exactly like a birds droppings. A big white, roughly circular patch about 1-2 inches across surrounded by a wet patch. In the centre of the white stuff was a little brown smudge.

When i wiped the white stuff off it was slightly gritty.

Does anyone have any ideas on this query? Not sure if i need post this next bit but his current situation is as follows.

The shop i purchased the snake from said he was feeding on 2 small F/T pinkies once a week. I left it 7 days after purchasing him before feeding 1 small pinkie. I have basically begun feeding 1 small F/T pinkie every 5 days or so. I know he could eat more than 1 small pinkie at a time, but i wanted to let him get settled in for a few weeks.

The viv has UTH, no thermostat but a thermometer on the mat reading about 78-82 Degs.

I have made sure he has clean mineral water every day.

He is not skinny as far as i can tell, no bones protruding.

As i mentioned before it looked as though a bird had flown overhead and left me a present. I am sure this is not normal. Although it may be a little disgusting, anychance someone could post a pic of how the droppings should look?

It's perfectly normal for a pinky-fed snake's poop to be like a bird dropping. Once it's eaing mice with fur on you'll miss those teeny poops, trust me :grin01:
 
Hey yea, thats normal, I think the white bits you speak off in the poo, is the snake wee, but i'm not 100% sure : ) goodluck with your snake : )
 
Oh right he he. I was really worried as i've yet to read any other posts about it.

Thanks alot guys.....seeing as the little guy is ok, i can now tell him off for pooping on me :)

The white, gritty mass is urate. Snakes dont just poop, or pee, they do it all at once. Perfectly normal. :) If it DOESNT look like bird poo, then you should start to worry.
