Blaze is Growing So Fast

My little baby is growing so fast. When I got Blaze he was so tiny and small and would wrap around my hand and just lay there. Now within two weeks time he has shed once and is in blue again to shed again. I was looking at pictures of him when I first got him and pictures now and I am just amazed each and every time I look at him how big he has gotten and is still getting. My little Blaze is growing so fast.

I kinda had the same reaction as you...I wasn't expecting him to go into another shed so soon but I went to feed him on his usual schedule and he was completely blue and glazed over. When I got him back in I believe it was august I was feeding him fuzzies, one every 7 days...he is on a strict weekly schedule. I recently upgraded him to small hoppers about a week and a half maybe two weeks ago after weighing him because the fuzzies were leaving no impression that he had eaten (no bulge) and according to the feeding schedule (having a brain fart can't remember what it's called but it's on here) according to his weight he was due to upgrade. He is on a strict weekly schedule with those as well...he is usually fed anywhere every 7-9 days.

Blaze just recently hit a growth spurt, since I've had him he hasn't really grown all that much. It just seems recently that he is starting to really eat and grow and shed. Like I said I wasnt expecting to see him blue again so soon, but I can't stop him from growing lol. And its the Munson plan that I was trying to think of.

They do grow up so fast... I got my big girl out this evening, her first real handling session in a couple weeks or so (been a hectic month), and it occurred to me just how MUCH she's grown. She was 12 grams when I got her back in 2007, and this evening she weighed in at a whopping 497 grams! My itty bitty girl is definitely not "itty bitty" anymore... Haha!

It's good to hear your little one is growing so well! Before you know it, he'll be a behemoth and you'll wonder where your little worm snake went... Lol!

Blaze will be getting weighed Monday or possibly Tuesday depending on if he has shed yet. Last month he came in at 45 grams so we will see what he comes in this time.

Usually they experience their largest growth spurt when sized up from pinkies to fuzzies and als each following upsizing. But shedding again after two weeks seems unusual. Though I have had the impression with some of my snakes that they went into shed sooner than normal after a meal that was on the large side of what they should get. So maybe the upsizing did cause the shortened shedding cycle. It should happen once than.

You might want to check if he has injured his skin somewhere to be sure. An injury can cause a shortened shedding cycle too.

I will surely do that tonight. I wasn't around when he was on pinkies as he was with another owner. I got him when he was on fuzzies and I just recently upgraded him to small hoppers.

I think the reason he is hitting a growth spurt now is because I am actually feeding him and it is on a strict schedule. From what I was told from his previous caretaker..she retrieved him from her daughter's principal who was keeping him in his back porch and was going to release him into his back yard so I'm not sure if he was even feeding him. I do know when I got him he was quite small.

lol, my yearling hs quadrupled in size I've been feeding her crawlers. Took her out last night and she was 5 inches longer than last month. IT'S A CHRISTMAS MIRACLE!

Well, I took Blaze out last night...he shed in full. Still had a problem with the tail so I took some mineral oil and let his lower half slide through my hands and it eventually worked itself off without any problems. Blaze doesn't have any broken scales, no tears or anything..so I think its just from bumping him up in size.

Having the same kind of experience with my baby 'popcorn' she recently moved up to small mice weighing between 10-12g (I think in the U.S you call them hoppers but where I live mice between 10 & 15g are just lumped into 1 category as small mice). When I got her about 9months ago she was on 1 pink per week & was a tiny little snake, now at last weigh in (about 1 week ago) she was 87g!!
