Okay, so some of the pics are still on the camera, but here are a few highlights.
This past Friday, Saturday and Sunday was the Mad Monster Party at the Blake Hotel in Charlotte NC.
Soooooo many things happened that were not captured on film. Once we all started drinking, the rule of "no cameras" went into effect. Most of the party happened in the bar after the show closed each day. I made some wonderful new friends and partied with some real animals.
First up:
Me and Mom with Peter Criss the Cat Man/KISS Drummer. He was soooo sweet and funny! When we told him we were from the Charlotte area he started telling stories of crazy parties and clubs they used to go to around here.
Candid shot of Danny Glover. I did not get his autograph, but we did chat with him for a while. Very nice man!
Sgt Slaughter, who freaking looks the same as he did 20 years ago...
A very cool wax statue.
David Naughton from American Werewolf in London. The shot of the me and him together did not turn out. When he signed my poster he wrote "beware the moors..." Super sweet guy, I spent a good chunk of the afternoon hanging out with him.
Haruo Nakajima the living legend from the original Godzilla films.
Kirk Hammett guitarist from Metallica. He is a HUGE horror fan, really funny guy too. We talked about how much naturally curly hair sucks. He felt my pain and I gave him pointers on some new products to try.
These next few need some back story.
Gary Busey was a loud drunken tornado all weekend. At any moment you could get "Busey-ed." My friend Chris was in the bathroom, at the urinal, and Busey staggered into him, patted him on the shoulder and said, "it's cool, I'm Gary Busey," the proceeded to take care of business. Other times he would suddenly leave his table and come back with a fist full of shots and pound them. Everyone at the show kept their head on a swivel because you never knew when Busey would steam roll past you.
At the hotel bar he honked my boob. I felt honored. The king of crazy goosed me. He would line up a row of shots, drag people over the bar and then high five you as you downed them. Later that night he was running up and down the halls playing with a fake sword and chasing people into their rooms. All 100% harmless fun and a really wild night!
Bottom line, Busey did whatever he wanted whenever he wanted and to whoever he wanted.
I really wish we had cameras in the hotel bar, but the celebrities were cutting loose too and cameras made everyone nervous. Some of that crap is best not preserved on film.
And.... back to the photos.
While everyone was waiting in line for Bruce Campbell, there was a sudden noise and commotion from the back of the line, slowly working it's way forward. Bursts of noise, then laughter. It was Gary Busey, he wanted to meet Bruce Campbell, so he cut the ENTIRE FRAKING LINE!!
Then magic happened.
Your weekend may have been great, but it was never awkward conversation between Bruce Campbell and Gary Busey great.
Bruce Campbell was so freaking AMAZING!!! Funny as all get out, and really larger than life. We had a hard time getting good pictures of him because of how fast everything was moving.
After the convention wound down, mom left and I stayed at the hotel with friends.
I think I met my soul mate (kidding ).... This is Nivek Ogre, one of the founders/lead singers of Skinny Puppy. He is also one of the starts in my favorite movie, Repo! The Genetic Opera. He plays Pavi the face stealer. I had an INCREDIBLE time hanging out with him.
