I'm not sure where to post this, so here it is!

My female colombian boa, Jasmine, gave birth to beautiful babies this morning.

Here's the first picture of the babies, but a warning, this could be considered gross to some people:

well as of now, there are 5 babies and three slugs
she was quite small when she was pregnant, so I'm not expecting too many more, if at all
they are all moving from what i can tell and breathing.
she appears to still be straining to push something out, so we'll see what happens

Well, i think she was almost too young to breed when she became gravid. We took her to the vet about a month ago, and she was about 5 3/4 lbs. She swelled after that, but we haven't weighed her, sorry. She is about 5 feet long. We've only had her for about two months or so.

She seems to be doing fine. She is moving around. I think she's starting to interact with her babies. I'm not sure though.
I hope she gets through this alright.
Thanks for your support.

If she's done giving birth, are you not going to remove her and get her cleaned up and move the babies? Just curious...

Well, I don't think she is done yet. And the babies came sooner than expected so we don't have all of their supplies, although we will be getting them tonight. And the babies are still in their sacks, so I'm going to wait until they are out, or at least mostly out.

congratulations. They look so cute and slimey. lol Hope the mother and the little ones pull through ok for you.
Im curious to learn more about boa's though.......
could someone please explain this 'how many slugs?' thing? What is a slug? lol

A slug is an infertile baby. In eggs, they will be slimy, small and yellow, in live births, they will be a sort of sack with nothing in it. I think the picture shows one in the foreground to the right. And congrats on the litter! They are lovely!

Thank you all for your replies!
Both mama and her babies are doing fine.
Jasmine ate on Sunday, and she look good.
Some of the babies are nippy for the time being, but we'll have to work on that.
