Branch?

I've got a small branch in my garage that would be perfect for the tank, but I am concered there may be paracites. I heard some where that snakes can get paracites that were living on the branches put in their tanks. I was wondering if there is any way I can clean in or make sure it is safe, or should I play it safe and just go buy the $16.00 branch at the local snake store? Thanks in advance.

Branches don't just grow on trees......

Either will be fine. How long have you had the branch?

We've had it for some time now, since we moved in two years ago i think. It's just a small thing, cherry wood. My dad works with wood alot, so we are going to cut off and sand the jagged parts. Do you know how I could clean it?

Bake it in your oven on low heat for awhile. If it is that old, chances are the bugs are long gone. The fresh stuff is were the problems are.

If this helps, I soaked mine in a 10% bleach solution for 20 min, rinsed it a few times, then baked it in the oven at 200 degrees for 20 minutes.

Very helpful, thanks. When my dad gets home we'll try it out and hopefully my little ghost will have somewhere to climb. Thanks so much.

I wash mine thoroughly with soap and water, rinse well, and then throw it in the microwave for a couple of minutes. The water keeps it from burning, and most anything will die after the microwave gets through with it.
