Breaking a Bad Habit

So Geoff&I added 2 more cornsnakes to our growing family, 3 year old normals (as far as i can tell, although is much more vibrant in color). Anyhow, they have been raised eating 1 or 2 live mice every 10 days. I know they are already stressed out from their move, so I wasn't gonna try to switch to f/t for a little while. They were also fed in their cage, with one taken out while the other ate. So I bought a feeder and dropped it in the tank. It was still there the next morning, burrowed in aspen right next to Titan(the new guy)!
So what is the proper way to feed my snakes live mice?Hold it by the tail with tongs? Put the mouse in a box with high sides so it can't get out, but the snake can get in? Or just offer them f/t or nothing?

Well, first off, never feed live unsupervised or overnight. If the snake isn't hungry a stressed or hungry mouse can chew on your snake and your snake will not defend itself.

If you do feed live, you can hold it on tongs or drop it in, but always supervise and if the snake looks unwilling to feed remove the mouse. Not not ever leave it in there overnight!

I do not feed corns live but I have a Ball python that only eats live. Maybe someone who regularly feeds their corns live can tell you more.

Thank you for the info. I just got the girl to take a f/t, and Titan is definitely not starving, so i'll give it a few days before i try again.
