Breeding attempt

Really very Jr. member
Today i tryed breeding my amel and bloodred cornsnakes today. It was both of their first times, but they were deffinantly ready. My girl is about 3/4 years old, and a big girl, and the male was 3 years old too...

Now when i put them in the same tank today, the girl (amel) was all about this idea, and tryed tangeling up with mike. It was deffinantly a love tangel not constrict tangle... But the male (bloodred) was freaking out, shaking his tale, and he was terrified. I quickly got him out of there, but what could be the issue?

Is he just not ready? was he afraid of her? I'm now on the look for a local stud for my girl.

Thanks

recently? no, i went to the vet when my girl was about 1. and my guy, again was straight from the experienced breeder. I know what you mean, there could of been a mess up when he did it?? but i doubt that, he's pretty official.

I had the same thing happen, Last sept. I got a "Female" adult. It LOOKED female, I never probed it. well come this spring I paired "her" up with my Male Amel and all h#ll broke loose. The "female" went crazy trying to flee and even defecated. I quickly separated them. I probed '' her" and discovered she was a HE!! Luckily, this was a freebie snake and I lost nothing on it, In fact I even paired him with a couple females. He turned out to be a strong breeder, sire to 4 clutches this season.

That would be the opposite of my situation here. Im possitive that my girls a girl.... hmmm, i might have him checked out then I guess?

is this the only answer? or could he not be old enough yet?

Im just very astonished by this behavior

He is the right age....Were they brumated.......It sometimes does not matter, if they were or not, just trying to get an idea. Otherwise maybe try putting the sheds of other brumated females in the box with the lucky couple.:eek1::flames::laugh01:
