just want to know if i can breed my cornsnake without brumation? i live in tropical country(phils), climate here doesn't change that much (around 26C-31C). how will i trigger my corn to mate? need advice,plssss...

you need to brumate (cool) them for a more success breeding. i have try breeding them without cooling, and i prove to waste my time. i saw mating/pairing 3-times.. and after that.. no eggs.

how big is your corn? you corn has to be at least 3 feet long, 300-grams weight & 3-years old.

he is my next breeding plan.

1st and foremost, sex your corn again...

then, weight your both your corn. you want to have record. feed heavily for 2-mths. we need to feed heavily cause they are going to fast/ not eat for 2-mths. after that, let it poo & dont feed for 2-3 weeks. weight them again. then put them in an air-condition room. put your temperature at 20C, and keep this for 1-week. after that put your air-con at the lowest setting.. my air-con can go to 16C. replace water with fresh water every week. keep them in the air-con room for 2-mths.

after 2-mths, increase the temp to 20-22C. do this for 1-week. after 1-week, its wake up time & place to normal temp. weight them again. see how much weight is lost, sometime they dont lose weight that much, but if too much weight is lost it means you did not feed enough before cooling. now be sure to feed them... feed them small mice, for 1-2week. check for health. after 2 weeks, feed to normal size meals.

during this feeding, she/he will turn blue.. once she shed. its ready for a male. place male 2-days on, and 1 day off. and still feed heavily if they want to eat, usually they dont eat. cause to buzy with mating... do your records. do the 2-days, 1 day off for 1 mth... or until you see a steadily increase in the female weight or the female looks bigger (with eggs).. offer smaller meals to the female, if you suspect gravid. and remove the male.

she will shed again before laying eggs. so give her a moist egg laying box. after shedding, between 10-14 days, she will lay eggs..

enjoy and incubate them eggs... i hope to do this again..

after 2-mths, you slowly bring the

You don't have to brumate but it makes things easier and it's believed to impove fertility. I had a very sucessful breeding last year without brumation. Put them together after the female sheds and eventually one of the times will be the right time. After the first hook up give them a few days and let them hook up again and then repeat for a 3rd time. Best of luck to you! :)

I live in the southern US, I don't brumate my corns but they breed just fine. I just put them together and keep an eye on them. :D

Another way to improve fertility ( without cooling) would be to control the amount of light. I've read that cooling isn't the trigger for some species of snakes, rather sunlight, decreasing the amount to simulate winter can trigger brumation as well. I have not tried this as my snakes all brumate in cold in complete darkness for two months.

I don't brumate and I breed without any problems. Try putting the male with the female, immediately after she sheds over the next two or three months. The pheramones are thought to be at their strongest then, meaning it's more likely that the male will be keen and the female will be receptive.
