Bring my female to the male

Hi there, I am wanting to breed my female butter motley with a male motley(not mine). The problem I have is... The person wants me to bring my female to him and I feel that will stress the female out. What do you think?

Does the person who wants to breed the snakes care for snakes in a manner you will be happy with? Do you trust the person with your snake? I don't think it would be that stressful on her, but you'd need to move her soon so he has time to do a decent period of isolation before introducing her to the male. By the time spring rolls around, she'll have forgotten she didn't always live there.

IDK, I'm not sure if I'm comfortable with leaving my female with someone I barely know. I guess I will just have to find another butter male. Repticon DC will be in March and Manassas, Va expo will be in Feb... Wish me luck! LOL

does the person with the male want to breed as much as you do, if so, why dont you have the male come to you ??

He wants to breed, but he has a problem with coming to my area... Honestly, I have no idea why... it's kinda weird to me.

I am just not comfortable with leaving my snake with someone I barely know... Now, if bring my snake there once every 5 days to breed... Will that still be successful?

you know the old saying.... it only takes once.

if you know your girl is ready then just take her to the male, let them do their stuff then take her home again, maybe do that every day for a few days if you want to be certain......

Definitely trust your gut on this one. If something seems weird to you about the situation, and you have that nagging feeling, your subconscious is trying to tell you something.

I think it's worth the wait to either find your own male, or do a breeding loan with someone you're comfortable with.

You're right, I should trust my guts... I will see if I can just bring her there and try to see what happens; than bring her home. I would do a breeding loan but not many snake lover in this area. :(

I will try this out and see what happens. If nothing happens, than I will be patient and wait to buy my own. I saw a VERY NICE Butter strip male in the classified on here! What a beautiful snake.

I would really suggest thinking hard about the situation.
If you don't know the person, I would NOT recommend doing a breeding loan. I hate to say it, but there's the chance that if you leave your snake with that person, you won't ever see her again. It's happened to a friend of mine before.

So, just think about it, and it may be worth the wait til you can find a male. I'd really hate for you to lose such a pretty gal to some sketchy person.

And if you do decide to loan her out, make sure you know that she'll be cared for, and not thrown into some damp, dark corner with an unknown male who could be a carrier of disease. You just never know, so I'd really suggest that you only do breeding loans with people you know and trust.

Have you written up the contract that you really should have whenever you do a breeding like this? There have been horror stories about breeding loans concerning the resulting hatchlings, who gets first choice, what happens with problem hatchlings, etc.

I also agree with Susan, if you do decide to go ahead and do the loan, make SURE you have a contract. Otherwise, there may be arguements over who gets what babies, etc. And frankly, if your snakie has some nice looking babies, I'm sure you'd want to keep them. :) I sure would, haha.

So just make sure you've got all your bases covered so you don't get burned. And, even if you didn't have any problems, better to be safe than sorry. :)

I agree with you both about the breeding loan contract and leaving her with him. Someone talked to me about a contract me can give me, but it totally slipped my mind! Thank you for reminding me! :)
