What addiction?!
Finally, I get to introduce this little girl. This pretty little girl was sent to me in January as part of a trade deal with "Ali".
Woes and worries:
Buttons came out of the shipping box very cold, yes a heat pack was included. An unexpected winter front caused the temps to drop below what was expected when we shipped. The other snakes in the box, corns, were all just fine. Buttons belly was sunk in and felt like one of those Ice-Pops you give your kids in the summer. You know how when they start to thaw out it's like a slushy? That's how she felt. After a couple days her belly bloated and I became very concerned. She refused to eat but Ali could only get her to eat a live mice once every couple of weeks. So I was expecting that. When she did slither is was slow and the back half of her didn't seem to want to move. She didn't do much tongue flicking either. So I had her "swim" once every couple days for about 10 minutes. Other than her swim she wasn't handled. Her heat was kept high and I gave her antibiotics as a precaution. She was also treated for internal parasites and given nutribac in her water. In other words, I tried to cover all the basis. After about 3 weeks the bloating started to subsided and she finally made a small poo for me. I was never so excited to see poop in my life. LOL After that I offered her a small f/t mouse hopper. I did it where she couldn't see me by dangling the mouse over the edge of their tote with the lid still on just cracked. To my surprise she took it. I've been offering her f/t rats, not mice, every 5 days now and she's never missed a meal. She has shed for the 3rd time since Jan. I'm so proud of this little girl.
January when she arrived. First pic she doesn't look that bad but the caved part is in that last curve before her tail. I included a picture of her belly to show how the ribs were showing from her stomach being caved in. Wish I could have gotten better shots.
March- 2 months later. What a change she's made. (That's paper towel on her neck not shed.)
