My adult corn is currently in a 20 long, but I have been pondering an upgrade. I can't go any long than 30 in, and would like to know if my current tank is suitable before I make any changes. Thank you all
If you can't go longer, it will be okay. If you can go deeper there are some options out there for more floor space. I have my corns in 36x18x18 in enclosures but I still believe it is important to get them out for regular exercise when not digesting or in shed. That's one way to compensate for a smaller enclosure.
As to your tank being suitable sliding lids are more secure than clip on. Glass tanks with screen lids are fine. I prefer under tank heating on a thermostat and am not a fan of red lights for heating overnight. I prefer they are dark at night. Note I said "prefer". I see nothing wrong. I love that you provide a deep layer of aspen for tunneling and hides on both sides. A lot is preferences and while we all can always find room for improvement, your set up looks fine.
Thank you so much! The clips seem secure enough, with two on the back and two on the front, at least when I try to lift it. As for the red light, he has had it his whole life, though I am in the process of switching him to flexwatt like my Ball python. He has always liked to burrow, so when I changed his aspen last week I made sure it was nice and deep, as when I changed it last there wasnt enough for him to dig.
Glad to hear it on the clips. I had a tragic, as in never found, escape from an insecure lid so I'm always a little over cautious now.
I love to see them enjoy their tunneling. It actually makes the whole enclosure a hide. They never outgrow it either as long as there's enough aspen to hide in.
