How good is calcium sand for snakes skin. i have changed the bedding in my viv and was told calcium sand in really good for reptiles skin so out of a 4 foot tank i have got a foot of calcium sand for my corns to go in. what does this do, is it full of vitamins

It's not good for Corns. It can get under their scales and cause infections. Plus it dries out the atmosphere. Basically, Corns aren't evolved to live in any kind of sand.

Calcium sand is full of... er... calcium. As Corns don't absorb this from the environment and shouldn't swallow it in granule form like sand (it risks impaction), it's just a problem in the making.

I know - a bit of a pain for you, sorry about that. Shops can give good info, but sometimes they tend to generalise about reptiles. I'm sure calcium sand must be good for *some* reptiles - just not Corns.
