Hi everyone.
I`m cind of new to snakes and I understand now that it´s not only fun, I actually worry about these little friends of mine as I do for my children (almost atleast). I just got our second corn, he´s an anery and a while ago I saw that the little fellow had a defect on the lower chin. It´s like a bump and very hard. At first I thought it was just a little scratch but I´m not so sure anymore. I´m afraid that he´s got a fracture or something. Ofcourse I´m bringing him to the vet but I have time there in a few days so I thought you could give me some suggestions. It´s very strange because he doesn´t seem to be in any pain and he seems very well. :shrugs:

Ofcouce snakes can get fractures. They have bones have they? A visit to the vet may indeed be the best idea. Like all animals, snakes will not show pain nor illness because normally, in the wild, what would make them a target to predators. Who prefer to go after a sick or hurt animal then a heathy one. So we, as you just did, should be extra carefull for signs of trauma. Good luck with your snake.

I suppose you`re right... I hope the vet can help him in that case. I haven´t heard anyone before getting a fracture on a snake but I suppose it´s not impossible since they have some kind of bones. Thanks for takning you´re time...will let you know how it all goes later this week.

I recently inherited an adult sunglow, Vali. He was free because of a defect in his jaw that made him unable to be sold in the pet store. Apparently, he would ram his nose against the glass of his viv when he was younger and it broke his jaw. It was never set properly, but he's fine now. There is a slight scar, but he sheds and eats without a problem. While I do recommend you take him to the vet, don't worry yourself to death over it. Animals have an amazing ability to heal. :)
