Canadian Breeders Online?

I was just wondering if anybody knows of any reputable corn breeders that sell online that are canadian or that will ship to canada?

breedingcolors, she is in Montreal. She seems to have some nice stock, apparently quite a bit comes from Cornutopia. Can't go wrong there.. Check under Canadian Members forum on this website, there might be a few more you might see and like. Such as Greenman and a few others. Just watch who you are dealing with, and deal with someone you might feel comfortable with. Shop around if you must and kick some tires, but try to get to some herp shows. If you just want a corn as a pet you should be able to get a decent animal from a chain store or LPS..

Regards

There are lots of options for getting corns in Canada - many breeders on this forum as well as several of the Canadian forums that deal with reptiles in general. There are also 5-6 herp shows in Alberta each year that draw breeders from across the west. While there were not many of the high end morphs in western Canada a few years ago, that is changing rapidly and there are quite a few people now who have lavs, butters and other higher end morphs. There should be lots of hatchlings at the upcoming Edmonton and Alberta reptile society shows this month and next.

Certainly a good idea to check around and find someone you are comfortable dealing with - there is a lot of inconsistency in things like the records supplied, reliability of sexing, and care that goes into producing good corns and those things are often reflected in the price.

Best of luck in your search,

mary v.

I am sure your going to have some very nice high end morphs soon Mary.. Are you selling as well??

Regards..

Cool, a fellow Edmontonian.
I'm quite new to corns, but the idea about a herp show sounds exciting. Is there a good directory of these shows in Alberta?

And for kkempin, have you purchased snakes from any Edmonton pet shops? if so, what ones do you find the best? and do you know of any that stock live pinkies on any day of the week?

TandJ - we have been breeding corns and honduran milksnakes for several years now and sell regularly through the Alberta shows (lived in Edmonton until early this year, now in Regina) - in terms of corns I deal predominately with creamsicles and derrivatives but generally have a few 'pure' corn breedings going on in any given year. I keep a fairly small, select group of corns - not too many of the high end morphs - never saw the appeal of lavenders or ultra/ultramel - lavas maybe on the wish list.

Antster - there is not an official directory of reptile shows but the Edmonton one is coming up really soon. If I were you I would definitely buy a corn from one of the breeders there - it will be a lot cheaper than any pet store and you get to deal directly with the breeder. Do a search for Edmonton Reptile and Amphibian society or TARAS - the Alberta society and you will be able to find more info on the shows. Teh Edmonton club meets monthly and there are also many people there that provide feeder mice at much lower prices than pet stores.

Welcome to Saskatchewan ( I'll best you never thought you would move there did you? ). When I move back up north I will be in the general local, and may bring some of the creamsicle crosses with me ( most look like normals that I have, but I have one Amel in the group of crosses ). I know on the other board there is a Herp group in Saskatchewan but I don't know how big the meetings are etc.

This should probably be down in the Canadian member forum I would think.

I am thinking about a Tangerine Pueb a friend of mine has, decent critter but the rings are not as clean as I want them. I remember you mentioning something on the other site about San Luis Potosi's, and was wondering if you breed them too..

Hey right on, a fellow E-town corny! My wife bought me my corn for christmas last year. She bought it at PJ's Pet Center in WEM (I think that's what it is). It's the pet store by the London Drugs in WEM. I have never used live pinkies so I have never looked for them so I can't help you with that, but I have found that the PJ's Pets on Gateway Blvd. (just north of 34th ave, I think) has the best selection of reptile-related products. Maybe I'll see you at a herp show sometime soon!

I've checked out the PJ's on Gateway, it's got a good selection but the prices seem a little high. I guess it costs a lot to run a shop that size though I can't be upset that they want a little more money.
I see the Edmonton Reptile and Amphibian Society are supposed to be having a show this weekend. ERAS Fall Show I hope there are breeders selling corns there, I'd love to get another one if the price is right.
